Pax Galaxia... Galaxy Peace.

Pax Galaxia Shrine

Pax Galaxia is a cool PC game based on Risk. Its name comes from Pax Romana (Roman peace). It was created by Diodor Bitan.

Manual's description of the game:

"Pax Galaxia is a fast-paced strategy game of stellar conquest. Your task is to seize control of all the stars on the map. To do this, you must move your forces around, direct where newly produced ships will go, and decide where you will engage hostile ships. To achieve final victory, you must destroy all the enemy forces."

It's one of the games my brother played as a kid (and still plays today, from time to time). I never got to play it yet though, but I am able to watch him play (it hasn't been installed on my computer yet, only his). It has an editor and multiplayer, and it works perfectly fine in Wine (rhyme) and newer Windows systems. It's not free, but the link to purchase it is broken. (You used to be able to sail the seas for it, but it's not available there anymore! So... ;) ) Download the demo here for Windows and Mac (contains only the first 5 maps, and easy AI players). Those files are also hosted on Jonathan Campbell's site, which also has other cool Pax stuff! :D The demo at least has full multiplayer. :)

Did you know?: The game used to be called Pax Solaris, but got renamed in late Nov 2004 (with version 1.10) to avoid possible legal trouble with Sun Microsystems (because of their OS Solaris).

Loads more info about the game here!

Pax 2, a remake, is in the works :D

Tasharen Entertainment made a spiritual successor to it called Starlink (2013), so that's cool (even though Starlink doesn't have an editor since Tasharen got busy on other games like Windward and Project 5: Sightseer). (Not to be confused with Starlink: Battle for Atlas [2018]!)

Download link for an old version of the demo. Scan for viruses!

Some other Forgotten Old '90s PC Games: (I dabble in 'em. ;) )

Re-Volt (link is to my huge shrine for it)

Stay Tooned! (link to an LP of it; it's really weird, which is a good thing since I love weird stuff, and I was born in the very early 2000s so it was never in my childhood; Reader Rabbit and Cluefinders 6th Grade were though)

Toonstruck (released on Steam though, so not forgotten; link is to PushingUpRoses's review of it, which I watched; there's also a Longplay of it)

Elroy Goes Bugzerk (1995) (see above; made by Headbone Interactive; it seems cool except for having to start over when you make a mistake; link is to an LP)

Elroy Hits the Pavement (1996) (the just as awesome sequel; made by Headbone Interactive too; link is to an LP made by the same guy as the above LP, Slasher331)

and most of the CDs in my collection. (List will be in Articles section rhyme).

Updated on Dec 10, 2019 (added more info on Pax Galaxia, and misc. edits).

Updated again on Sat, Apr 30, 2022 (Campbell took down his Pax Galaxia site and none of the download links on the Wayback Machine work... :( Too bad, his demo version had full multiplayer support. I found an archive link to DioGames's version of the demo though :) I don't know if that has multiplayer).

Updated once more on Wed, Jan 3, 2024 (Campbell's site is back! Woo! :D Also added more Pax info).
